Responsibilities:

  • Operate and drive tractor-trailer combinations or other large vehicles to transport goods between locations.
  • Transport goods over long distances, sometimes spanning across state lines or even internationally.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Secure cargo properly and safely using straps, chains, or other securing methods.
  • Follow traffic laws, maintain safe driving practices, and adhere to hours-of-service regulations.
  • Plan routes, maintain delivery schedules, and communicate with dispatchers or supervisors as needed.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and documentation related to the transportation of goods.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck, ensuring it is fueled and in good condition for the next trip.

Requirements:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience as a Long Haul Truck Driver or similar role.
  • Excellent driving skills and the ability to handle long hours on the road.
  • Strong adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to handle long periods of sitting and driving.
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

  • Mountain driving expertise
  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
  • Drive lighter, special purpose trucks
  • Load and unload goods
  • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Pay and receive payments for goods
  • Perform brake adjustments
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods
