Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Assist carpenters with measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, and other materials according to project specifications.
- Transport materials, tools, and equipment to job sites and help set up work areas.
- Hold or secure materials and assist with assembly, installation, and framing of structures, cabinets, doors, and windows.
- Clean and prepare work areas, including removing debris, sweeping floors, and organizing tools and supplies.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively under the guidance of experienced carpenters.
- Perform basic carpentry tasks such as sanding, staining, painting, and sealing surfaces.
- Assist with demolition, removal, and disposal of old structures or materials as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Learn and develop carpentry skills through on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced carpenters.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient workflow.
Tasks
- Load, unload and transport construction materials
- Clean and pile salvaged materials
- Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants
- Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in construction or carpentry preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments.
- Safety-conscious mindset and commitment to adhering to safety protocols.
