We are seeking a skilled and reliable individual to join our team as a Building Maintenance Worker. The Building Maintenance Worker will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep, safety, and functionality of our building and facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance, as well as a proactive approach to problem-solving and excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing leaks, replacing light fixtures, and troubleshooting electrical issues.
- Conduct inspections of building systems and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
- Complete repairs and renovations to building structures, including drywall installation, painting, and carpentry work.
- Maintain and repair HVAC systems, including troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing preventive maintenance.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from building occupants and address issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Assist with snow removal, landscaping, and other seasonal maintenance tasks as needed.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and equipment maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with property managers, contractors, and vendors to coordinate maintenance projects and repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including storage areas and maintenance workshops.
Tasks
- Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs
- Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris and other refuse
- Empty trash cans and other waste containers
- Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings
- Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs
- Contact contractors for repairs and maintenance of the establishment
- Perform minor repairs on appliances
- Perform safety and security checks
- Show apartments and offices to prospective tenants
- Supervise other workers
- Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies
- Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair
- Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures
- Work with minimal supervision
- Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in building maintenance or a related field.
- Knowledge of general maintenance procedures and techniques, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical problems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.
