Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize industrial equipment, machinery, floors, walls, and other surfaces using specialized cleaning equipment and solutions.
  • Handle and operate heavy-duty cleaning machinery, such as power washers, industrial vacuums, and floor scrubbers, efficiently and safely.
  • Remove debris, spills, and other waste materials from designated areas, ensuring adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
  • Dispose of hazardous materials following proper procedures and guidelines.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper functionality.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during cleaning activities.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to identify and report maintenance issues or repair needs.

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience as a Heavy Duty Cleaner or in a similar role within industrial or commercial settings.
  • Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment, techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and operate heavy machinery.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and understanding of hazardous materials handling.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in industrial cleaning or occupational health and safety are advantageous.

Tasks

  • Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs
  • Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris and other refuse
  • Empty trash cans and other waste containers
  • Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings
  • Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs
  • Perform minor repairs on appliances
  • Perform safety and security checks
  • Supervise other workers
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies
  • Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas
